Game On!

Sorry it's been a few weeks since my last post, but, as you can imagine, we've been pretty busy. I started back to work last week, which was a big change. I think I handled it pretty well - only a few tears. I can have no regrets, though. I was so lucky to have ten wonderful months at home with my little monkey.

Daycare has been great so far. Nicholas has gone right to Debbie with outstretched arms in the morning. What a relief. He is having a great time playing with the other kids, too. It's going to be great for him to socialize a little. He's definitely ready.

Today was the first day of "Daddy Daycare." Todd and Nicholas had a great day watching the digger tear up the backyard! He also took his first trip in his big boy carseat in Daddy's truck. (Just don't tell the police - we're a month and a half early on the forward facing seat!) Doesn't he look so proud of himself? What a big guy!

So, to my surprise, the trucks arrived this morning and began digging. Apparently Todd knew, but thought it would be fun to keep it a secret and surprise me. He emailed me a picture at work. I was surprised alright!

They finished digging the hole for the new living room, and should be back tomorrow for the footings. The plan is to dig for the garage/master bedroom on Thursday. We are so excited to finally be moving on this! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Hot Summer Fun!

Whoooo-eeee, it's hot! We've been doing our best to stay cool the last few days. Nicholas has been going in his little pool almost every day and loves the water! Today we actually went swimming at Grandma and Grandpa's and at the Garry's. He should sleep well tonight!

Nicholas has had a little summer cold for the past few days and has had some trouble falling asleep because of his stuffy nose. The other night, it was about an hour past his bedtime and he just wasn't interested in sleeping. Meanwhile, I had gone to Friendly's to get Todd and I some ice cream. So, parents of the year that we are, we decided it would be the perfect time to introduce Nicholas to a hot fudge sundae! No harm done, though - he was asleep soon after, complete with hot fudge stains on his jammies! :)

The demolition on the house continues... the builders should start digging next week. Todd has gotten a lot of the siding off and finished taking the deck down today. What a mess...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes!

Let the mess begin!!!!! We have started preparing the house for the addition, which is both exciting and scary at the same time. I know we'll love it when it's done, but we'll have to live with the mess for a while I guess. We started small - by pulling out some carpeting and packing away some "stuff" in the living room. Check it out!

We also had one tree removed from the side yard so the trucks can get to the back. I made a really cool movie of it, but I'm having trouble uploading it to YouTube. It's giving me grief about the music in the background - darn those copywrite laws!

Bye Bye Tree!

Nicholas has been having a great time lately - he had his first visit to the beach the other day. I took him to the CT shore to my friend Kerry's house. He LOVED the water - the salt surprisingly didn't bother him. He wasn't sure quite what to make of the sand, however. He kept plunging his hands into the sand, and just as quickly as I could clean him up, he was right back in there. I figure he must have eaten about a teaspoon of it. Oh well!!

He's also learned how to feed himself his puffs recently, which is so darn cute I can hardly stand it. It's amazing to me how grown up he seems lately. I wish he would slow down already...

Busy Busy Busy

Nicholas has had a couple of very busy weeks! We've had a playdate with Jenna, a trip to Boston, and a trip to Maine. He's also working very hard on learning to walk. It seems he wants nothing to do with sitting these days. He's constantly grabbing for our hands so that we'll walk him around. And lately, he's relying on our help less and less. He can stand on his own now, if he's supported by the couch or coffee table. We're definitely close. It will certainly make things interesting I'm sure!

Nicholas is also getting close, we think, to saying his first word. We're pretty sure it will be "kitty." He absolutely loves the cats and lights up whenever they come into the room. He has started to say something that sounds like "kitty" consistently whenever he sees them. We'll see!He also started to clap his hands a few days ago, which may seem like a little thing to some people, but to us, it's very exciting!

Nicholas also has a new best buddy - Susanna! While we were in Maine, he was just fascinated by her and would squeal and blow rasberries every time he saw her. It was so cute!

We finally got a GREAT weather day in Maine - our first one of the season. So, we definitley took full advantage. Here are some pictures of our fun in the sun!
