A week of firsts!

What a busy week our little guy has had! As you can see here, he had his first real playdate with his cousin Jenna this week. They were so cute together, both in their jeans, and hopefully it was the first of many visits to come.

Another first occurred this week as well. When Debbie came over for the kids' playdate, she brought us this thing called The Miracle Blanket... and is it ever! Is it somewhat like a straight jacket? Yes. Does he love it anyway? YES!!! This thing wraps him up like a little mummy, and honestly, I put him in it and he was asleep in 2 minutes flat. We have been trying to get Nicholas to sleep in his crib, or even the Pack 'N Play for naps, but he'll have no part of it. We think it's because he feels too exposed, too free. So, I put him into the crib all wrapped up yesterday and he slept for 45 minutes in there! When I went in to check on him, he was happily looking up at his Wally the Green Monster mobile. This is definite progress.

And here comes the biggie, the motherload of all firsts. Drumroll please... Last night, Nicholas slept through the night!! Yahooooo!!!!!! I got my first good night's sleep in three months, one week, and 3 days. (But who's counting?) I woke him up at 10:30 last night to feed him, and the next thing I know it's 6:00AM! And, he even went back to sleep for another hour after that! I am so excited and hopeful that it wasn't just a fluke. Keep your fingers crossed!

Oh, and just so you know, this is Kristin writing - I have no idea how to change the "Posted by" label at the bottom of the page. Oh well!

Climb of Your Life!

I know you all come to this blog to see cute pictures of Nicholas but I need to steal a piece of cyber space away from the little guy. It's for a good cause!

On March 28th a group of us from work are going to do something crazy. We are going to climb the stairs of a 34 story building to raise money for the American Lung Association. We're doing it in full firefighting gear, air pack and all. That means an extra 65 pounds added to our body weight. And if that's not enough, we're actually in the racing category and planning on doing it in under 5 minutes! Yes, it can be done.......

My goal is to raise $500, so if you can go to the link below and donate a couple of bucks, I would greatly appreciate it! http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/e01/part.jsp?id=2243&acct=8013444181&rid=0

A visit to Roaring Brook School!

This Tuesday, we had our last baby shower for Nicholas. This is a picture of the Second Grade team at Roaring Brook School - the best group of people to work with that anyone
could ask for!

The shower was beautiful, and it was so great to see everyone. As nice as it is to be home with Nicholas, I miss having the opportunity to see my RBS friends every day.

This was Nicholas's first trip to school, and I'm so happy that he finally got to meet everyone. He received some adorable gifts, and is shown wearing one here. Doesn't he look spiffy in his snap brim hat?

Thank you ,thank you, thank you to everyone at RBS for everything, and especially to my team for a great shower!

I'm wearing satin and it feels funny!

Today was not only Nicholas's three month birthday, but it was also his Christening day. He and his cousin Jenna were the center of attention today, and they certainly earned it. They both looked absolutely adorable all dressed in white. Nicholas wore a white tuxedo that was worn by one of his twin cousins about 11 years ago. His gown was made by his great great great grandmother over 90 years ago. So, he was wearing special clothes from both sides of his family!

Nicholas was in such a good mood today. He woke up laughing, and smiled the day away. We are so proud of him. It was a long day, with lots of wardrobe changes, flash bulbs, and being passed around the room like a hot potato. But, he handled it like a pro.

It was so nice to spend the day with our friends and family. Thanks so much to everyone. We love you so much!

The lights are on and somebody's home!

Well... we have definitely reached an exciting milestone in Nicholas's life. Over the past few weeks, he has been making good eye contact, smiling and laughing! His first laugh came at his Auntie Paula's house. Apparently ceiling fans are hilarious to a threee month old. Ever since, he has been smiling and giggling every day. Check out the video and see for yourself!

Nicholas has also recently discovered his hands. He looks at his fists with crossed eyes and immediately puts them into his mouth. Go figure. So, now that we're getting into the "everything in the mouth" stage, I guess we'll have to become crazy about keeping everything clean. And that means keeping Tigua away from Nicholas's toys, which is already a challenge. Tigua thinks all toys are his, especially the ones that rattle! This could get interesting...
