Our Little Model

This morning, we took Nicholas's nine month pictures and he was very cooperative, and, of course, very adorable. I had a hard time picking just one picture to post, so here is a sampling of pictures of our little guy.

Lock Up Your Valuables... I'm On The Move!

Well... it's official. Nicholas is on the move! I don't know if we can really call it crawling, because he's not actually up on his knees, but he can certainly drag himself all over the place! Oh, and did you notice his charming squeal at the end of the video? We're getting a lot of that lately - we're thinking of wearing earplugs around the house.

We also have a new favorite toy! Thanks to The Garrys for the great mailbox. He loves opening and closing the lid, and, of course, chewing on the letters. Mmmmm... mail. Yummy!

We're Back!

Todd went and picked up our laptop this morning from the Geek Squad, so we are back in the saddle, as far as technology goes. Our new house rule - no liquids on the desk. Any of you out there with a handsy little one - I suggest you create the same rule in your houses. It's amazing what only a few drops of liquid can do to a computer.

Well... it's been a while since I've blogged, except for the farm video, of course. That was a great project to work on in Maine. It's been a rough summer there weatherwise so far. Nicholas and I were lucky to get a few sunny days while we were there. Todd, who left in the middle of the week to go home to work, got only one sunny afternoon. But, it was enough time to get the little guy into the lake for the first time. I was seriously beginning to wonder if he'd ever have a chance to wear his bathing suit! He absolutely loved the water, even though it was pretty chilly. He sat on a rock and splashed around like crazy. I had a feeling he'd like the water because of how much he loves his bath. But let's face it... cold water is a whole different ballgame! I'm sure he'll be swimming around before we know it. Hopefully sometime soon we can swim in Grandma and Grandpa's pool. I'm guessing it'll be a tad warmer than Highland Lake was!

Nicholas also celebrated his first Fouth of July in Maine. I've always loved spending the 4th in Maine. The families on the beach always have amazing fireworks and all the boats come into the cove to watch. It's funny how things change, though. In years past, we'd sit outside and cheer. This year, we sat inside with all the windows closed cringing with every explosion. Surprisingly, my little light sleeper slept through most of them. He woke up about 20 minutes before the grand finale, so he did get to see his first fireworks before he went back to sleep. He's been having a rough time sleeping lately, we think because of his teeth. Although, that excuse is getting old! He's been teething for over 4 months now, and no sign of a tooth yet. He will, however, put anything and everything into his mouth and bite on it. His new favorite teething "toy" is Todd's nose. It's totally hilarious. He'll actually grab Todd's face and pull his nose into his mouth. Totally hilarious, but a little gross too. :)

He is making good progress on moving! He is on his feet all the time and can walk quite a distance while we hold his hands. He's really getting good at balancing himself too. Today, he was standing by the couch, and when Todd let go, he stood on his own for quite a while. This afternoon, he started getting some forward motion while attempting to crawl, too. It's sort of a military dragging type thing more than a real crawl, but it gets the job done!
It's hard to believe that we're into July, and in a few weeks, I'll be getting ready to go back to work. Right now, though, I am trying to take in as much as I can, and enjoy every minute I have left at home with my little guy.

Some Progress

We are making some progress on the computer disaster. We hear we may be getting our computer back sometime next week. Never mind that it will cost about the same as the original price of the computer to fix. Oh well, it's worth it. We've been so lost without it!

In the mean time, I am in Maine and have access to my mom's computer so I'm taking full advantage. Here is a slideshow of Nicholas's trip to the farm, It was a great day and lots of fun. Enjoy!
