We just spent an amazing week, in an amazing place, with an amazing little boy. When looking through my pictures, I had a tough time choosing which ones to post. Our week in Cape Cod was so special for so many reasons. We got to spend the first weekend celebrating Christmas with family, which was so much fun. And then, after everyone went home, we got to have our first real family vacation, just the three of us.
Nicholas has never really spent this much time away from home, and never really spent much time on the beach, so we were not sure how this week would play out. Luckily... we hit the jackpot! He managed all of the changes in routine and strange places like he has been traveling for years. And the beach?! Well, he fell in love with it. We spent every day on the beach - on the bay side exploring the tidepools, digging for clams, and chasing hermit crabs. On the ocean side - we built sand castles, buried Nicholas in the sand, and chased the waves. Nicholas even flew his first kite. Truthfully, there are no words that could express how special this vacation was. It is something I will remember forever - watching my monkey experience the world in a whole new way... with a smile on his face the whole time.
When I put Nicholas to bed tonight, I came out and told Todd that sometimes I feel like I'm going to bust I love him so much. It almost hurts. He is such a good boy, and we are so proud of him. It really does just keep getting better and better.
